A bit about us
We are a well-established, adult mixed choir, based in Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, singing in a wide range of styles from Renaissance to Contemporary. Our busy schedule includes entertaining for fund raising, weddings, and anniversaries at a variety of venues including churches, village halls, concert halls, and street festivals. Joint concerts with other choirs and instrumental groups are also popular.
The choir was formed in 1978 when people who enjoyed singing in the local church and the Ollerton Operatic Society came together under the leadership of John Catling, the name of the choir being derived from our rehearsal venue, The Dukeries Academy.
Our current Musical Director is Vicki Melling who joined us in January 2020, replacing Ash Williams.
Choir members come from the local community and surrounding towns and villages and you will find us a friendly and supportive group who enjoy rehearsing and performing together.
Weekly Wednesday evening rehearsals take place from 7.30 until 9.00 pm at The Dukeries Academy, Ollerton, best accessed via the main entrance and car park off Whinney Lane (postcode NG22 9TD). We can arrange for new members to be met so they can locate the rehearsal room easily.
New members are welcome and we currently have vacancies for all voices.
If you are interested in singing with us or to find out more about what we can provide then contact Margaret on 0789 6491314 or 01623 642464, or any member of the choir. Alternatively you can email us at thedukeriessingers@gmail.com or visit our facebook page.
